© 2024。Springer Nature Switzerland AG。
According to the latest global cancer data, ovarian cancer is the deadliest among all gynecological malignant tumors and ranks fifth in terms of mortality. Its etiology and pathogenesis are unknown, and the 5-year survival rate of patients with advanced ovarian cancer is only 40% (Sung et al. CA Cancer J Clin 71:209-49, 2021). Recent research has shown that the human microbiota plays a crucial role in the development and progression of tumors, including ovarian cancer. Numerous studies have highlighted the complex connections between the reproductive tract microbiota, intestinal microbiota, and ovarian cancer (Jacobson et al. PeerJ 9:e11574, 2021). Therefore, this chapter will delve into composition, function, and the correlation between microbiota and immunity in the field of ovarian cancer microbiota, as well as the potential of bacteria in therapeutics and diagnostics of ovarian cancer.© 2024.
