Senescence is associated with multiple morbidities and therapeutic targeting of these cells is a key aim. In a recent study, Katsuumi et al. found that targeting sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) promoted immune clearance of senescent cells via programmed cell death-1 ligand (PD-L1) suppression, thus promoting immunosurveillance.
